Syracuse

Thanks to the efforts of our "excellent" navigator, we ended up going through Syracuse no fewer than four times over the weekend. We had some other miscellaneous mishaps here, including the gas station that our GPS said was a Love's, but turned out to actually be a Cenex Eagle. In the parking lot of that gas station, we were delighted to see a Little Caesar's truck, advertising our very favorite: The Pizza Portal!

Syracuse has lots of small homes, most of them quite tidy. There are gas stations, motels, a park, a county museum, and a sand dunes park. The downtown is aging, with a library, school, and churches all near the main street. The county fair also happens here.

One interesting thing we saw here: At the bottom of a hill, there was a huge yard full of old cars that had driven their last mile -- given up the automotive ghost, you might say. Just up the hill, there was a cemetery. We thought it was funny to have the car cemetery just down the hill from the people cemetery.
