Marienthal

Marienthal's horizons are dominated by wind turbines, which are really the only significant changes to the skyline out here since the first telegraph lines came through. There were lots of trucks parked in front of the bar -- likely a post-harvest celebration. This town is also the home of St. Mary's Catholic Church and school.

Leoti

Leoti is the Barn Quilt Capital of the World! Or so the sign says. It is certainly the home of Wichita County High School. It seems like a nice, prosperous town. There's a courthouse, a library, at least one church, and a fun park at the foot of the water tower, right by a corn field. It's also home to the county fair and a city hall.

Selkirk

Selkirk is in Wichita County, but make no mistake: Wichita, the largest city in Kansas, is a long way from here, in more ways than one.

We noticed several prosperous farms nearby, and there are three grain elevators. The town also has gravel roads and an abandoned public school.
