Cave

"Cave" is Latin for "beware," which is what you'd better do if you try to enter any of the old, abandoned buildings around here. There's a disused grain elevator and a couple of trailer homes; not much else remains, except for a random motorboat chilling by the railroad tracks.

Moscow

Moscow has a lot going on: A bar and grill, auto shop, and some old buildings, as well as a senior citizen center, a grade school, and a post office. The pavement on some roads had red, white, and blue stars painted on it, which we thought was really fun. Several miles out of town, we saw the "Más Cow Dairy," managed by a Hispanic gentleman (and presumably also a dad) and playing off of "Moscow." Get it?

Feterita

Feterita is just a railroad with silos and a private drive leading to a few houses. Nothing more remains; this seems to be the way of a lot of towns out here. The railroad keeps going, often long after the people stop. (Though there was still a dog who seemed quite interested in us.)

Hugoton

Hugoton is, so says the sign, the Gas Capital of the USA! We did stop for gas here, so I guess it checks out.

We saw more Friends churches in this city, along with a hospital, the county Emergency Medical Services, post office, a courthouse, the fairgrounds, lots of businesses, a school, and a large elevator owned by Seaboard Foods. We also saw a pretty mural, which is always a nice way to display the local flavor.

We also saw a super sketchy building that promised "Finest Water," and even had "ENTRENC" helpfully scratched into a piece of plywood and pointing to the tarp-draped front door. We will not be seeing if that place truly has the finest water.

There's also a very colorful sign advertising "DULCELANDIA," the Spanish equivalent of "Candy Land." It was too early in the day to stop there; maybe next time...

Lots going on here!

Woods

There's a dilapidated old store near the highway, along with a few farms and a sign by the road for Woods. We did find a beat-up old bungee cord on the shoulder near where we stopped for a picture, but not much else was going on in this place.

The countryside around Woods does have some really nice farmhouses, and the Lone Star Friends church is about a mile away.
