Clay Center

Clay Center wasn't new to me. After all, I was born there, a little less than 35 years ago! I've also visited good friends and done several musical performances there (though that was over a decade ago, now).

So when we heard that the fabulous Randall Goodgame was coming to Clay Center Covenant Church for a Slugs & Bugs concert, we were in like Flynn. Fortunately, we were already down at Kansas Bible Camp's 60th Anniversary celebration, so Clay Center was (sort of) right on our way home.

Before the concert, we drove through town to explore a bit. We saw many well-kept houses and lawns, as well as my illustrious birthplace. Then, we went to the church, where we enjoyed a fantastic concert and a very tasty BBQ dinner. I also got to see Dave, an old friend of mine from the KSU Men's Glee Club. We tried to take a family selfie, but the camera wasn't very stable, and I'll let you be the judge of how successful that whole thing was.

Here's a link to the City of Clay Center, and here's another website that gives more information about this close-knit community. Also, if you haven't heard Randy's Slugs & Bugs Sing the Bible, Volume 2, you absolutely need to check it out. All the songs are straight out of Scripture, and the music and production are phenomenal.

By the time we got home, we were all very tired from a weekend away, but happy that we'd gotten to hear such great music in such a charming little town.
