McDonald

By the time we got to McDonald, the boys were sleeping in the back seat. Our two-day adventure, combined with fireworks the night before, had left them pretty tuckered out.

I was the only one to get out in McDonald, where we saw a nice downtown and a cute, well-maintained playground near the school. We also saw some really nice-looking ball fields.

According to Kansas: A Cyclopedia, the town was small, even back in the early 1900s. Nonetheless, it looks like it has held up pretty well throughout the years.

And, though the town has earned the dubious distinction of being (in one blogger's opinion) one of America's Most Boring Towns, it still seemed a lot more vital than some of the other little places we have visited so far.
