Saunders

The milo harvest was going on, so there were lots of combines in the fields, spewing reddish clouds of milo dust.

Saunders is right on the Colorado border. The fields are flat and featureless, with the only trees near homesteads. There's a wide variety of homes out here, ranging from old clapboard houses to modern ranch-style ones. There are a few gently rolling hills, but it's very flat for the most part. You can see the whole sky in every direction. We saw piles of rotting railroad ties next to the train tracks.

We crossed over the border to Colorado to eat our lunch parked on a county road.
