Lakin has a baseball field north of town, as well as a Kansas Department of Transportation shop. It has a number of other things, too, including gas stations, fast food, a grade school, a library, a veterans memorial and shops downtown. The homes are settled in a quiet neighborhood, and the town also has a very pretty park, as well as a pool with waterslides, and a cemetery on the edge of town. Of course, this being western Kansas, the grain elevator and railroad go without saying.
